Aerosoft has created an outstanding add-on for FSX. The Seahawk and Jayhawk X package is unlike anything I have ever experienced before. The detail and realism are mind blowing. I highly recommend this helicopter and scenery package to all who have a system that can support its resource needs. Aerosoft claims it’s a high end add-on made for high end systems. They weren’t kidding around with that statement.

Here is what’s included:

3 helicopter models (S-70B, S-60J, S-60B)
14 paint schemes (US Navy, Coast Guard, Japanese Self Defense Force, Royal Australian Navy, Hellenic Navy, Turkish Navy, and the Armada Espanola)
The Shipyard scenery package comes with 6 different naval ships
Excellent Documentation
Digital Download
Auto Install

The models are almost identical to the FS9 version but have had major upgrades to take advantage of FSX’s new features. They added bump mapping, self shading and more advanced reflections. They used the S-60 model and of course S-70 model so they could use the glass cockpit gauges available in FSX. Another cool part of this package is they included a new version of shipyard. Shipyard V2 is scenery software that allows you to put ships anywhere in the world to use in air operations. It uses the SDKs from the deluxe version of FSX and Google earth. Like all of Aerosoft’s aircraft this is a very complex model and requires a bit of reading before you fly. I won’t go into all of the details with this aircraft because there are way too many to talk about; I’ve hit the main points.

The Pros

-New highly detailed models with 14 different paint schemes
-A very realistic flight experience
-An upgraded model that takes advantage of FSX’s new features
-A very cool scenery pack that is easy to use and allows you to put ships anywhere in the world
-Excellent documentation with detailed instructions on how to use all of the avionics as well as shipyard scenery pack
-Digital download and auto-install

The Cons

-You have to have the deluxe version of FSX with the SDKs to utilize Shipyard
- They used the same sound package from FS9 (no upgrade)
-You have to have a high end machine to achieve a fulfilling experience
- No Paint Kit
Overall I give this add-on 9 out of 10. You can’t beat quality and with all the cool stuff that Aerosoft included in this package its well worth the money. This is an excellent helicopter for FSX and they have captured it’s excellence like nobody else. Great job Aerosoft!

Presentation
The presentation is excellent with highly detailed documentation and the usual digital download and auto-install.

Graphics
The textures with the new bump-maps are some of the best I’ve seen. The VC is very well done with great use of switchology, not to mention the cool winch operator view to assist in landing on ships.

Sound
It would have been nice to see a new sound package to go along with an upgraded model. Overall the sound is great but they didn’t take advantage of the cool sound effects of FSX.

Gameplay
What can I say…This is Aerosoft and they are on top of their game when it comes to realism and correct flight characteristics. They always deliver in this department and have gone above and beyond by adding scenery you can place anywhere in the world and
