JustFlight Phoenix Sims Boeing 777 Published on: 1st-Jul-2007 Rating: 8
The JustFlight/Phoenix Simulations Boeing 777 or: Why being an airline pilot is a dayjob and not a weekend hobby First flying on the 6th of june 1994 the triple 7 is one of boeings latest aircraft to join the airline fleet. Being the first plane to be entirely designed digitally it is a natural for inclusion into Flight Sim 9. When first I was told that I would be reviewing a 777 my initial reaction was Why? Does not FS9 come with one?. Does this addon actually add something beyond that of Microsofts rendition of the 777? Lets find out! On with the testing!
Captain Sims C-130 Published on: 10th-Jul-2007 Rating: 8
When the first YC-130A Prototype took to the skies in August of 1954 few would have imagined that the design would still be being built and flown operationally 52 years later with many airforces throughout the world and has seen mission roles ranging from raining destruction on North Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan as a gunship to bringing needed food aid to many starving peoples in developing nations under the UN's flag. Together with planes like the DC-3 the hercules is a plane that uniquely continues to fill a niche more then half a century after its conception.
Heinkel He 219A Uhu-Owl Published on: 11th-Jul-2007 Rating: 9
This unique night fighter made its first flight as early as November 6. 1942, and entered service in 1943. However very few ever saw service due to a huge political battle between Josef Kammhuber (General of the Night Fighters), Ernst Heinkel (the constructor) and Erhard Milch (responsible for aircraft construction in the Reichsluftfahrtministerium).
Australian Simulations Glasair III Published on: 11th-Jul-2007 Rating: 8
When people think of kit planes often they think of the flying party-tent kind of contraption. Boats with delta wings duct-taped to them, Flying bathtubs and that sort of thing. The Glasair III couldn't be further from those machines. It out performs most machines from manufactorers like Cessna, Piper or Cirrus with a large margin! With an initial climb rate of 3000 Feet per minute and a top speed of 260 knots it is on par with some warbirds. It's control responses are smooth and crisp and coupled with its high power it allows for some fantastic manouvres. It's performance depends on the engine choice of the builder, some even chosing to install turbo-props which must make for one wild ride!
